2019 Aston Martin V8 Vantage on test

2019 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

The new model boasts a newer title and follows the outgoing version in a fashion-forward way. Well, that’s pretty common among automakers. But there are some who prefer to continue with the same nameplate. And a good example is Aston Martin. While the auto makers even use some titles that represent the performance edition in each model. Like BMW, M attaches itself to the performance edition of its cars. And Nissan used GT-R, which was later created as a separate model.

In the same way, Aston Martin had used Vantage as a performance feature for every model in the line. But in 1972 the Vantage was launched as a separate model. While this one remained in service for only a year.

After three decades, Aston Martin reintroduced the Vantage. Well, that was a remarkable achievement for the company. And it was launched as a direct replacement for the ’90s Vantage Virage. In addition, the design of the Vantage was similar to the other models in the series. And the powertrain wasn’t much different either.

In 2018, the Vantage was discontinued in favor of a new model of the same name. Just like the previous version, this variant also shares many details with the other current models. But as a Vantage, it’s destined to be sportier and more powerful. For the price, expect $152,900 for the base model.

Bonnet of 2019 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Under the hood of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage sits a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Well, many thanks to Mercedes-AMG for lending this fine machine to Aston Martin. Compared to the Goner, the current model doesn’t offer any V12 monsters.

The previous edition was an absolute option for sports lovers. But the entry-level naturally aspirated V8s could only produce 430 hp. While this new model offers 503 hp. However, for the time being it is only available with a V8. But we could count on Aston Martin’s favorite V12 to come into the lounge.

The 7-speed manual transmission is standard. An 8-speed ZF automatic transmission is also available as an option. With all this equipment, the V8 Vantage can roll from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. Going back to the older Vantage with a V8, it would take 4.9 to 5.1 seconds for that. While top speed is measured at around 182 mph.

The fuel numbers are even amazing. You can count on 21mpg as the average fuel economy. Despite not being a family car, it offers good fuel economy. In a way, Aston Martin has made every effort to make this car responsive to upcoming rivals. Almost a 50/50 weight distribution is achieved. It also extends to the electronic differentials designed for torque vectoring. This is certainly the first Aston Martin ever to offer all of this. Even the DB series lacks these qualities.

2019 Aston Martin V8 Vantage exterior

We would say that the Aston Martin DB11 AMR provided the rear design concept for the Vantage. But the rest of the design is certainly new among all Aston Martins. In contrast to the other models, the Vantage has a different aperture. The front grille sits under the hood and is aligned with the bumper. And the headlight design has been distorted into sharp-eyed eyes. The entire design has been symbolized to resemble the alpha wolf. And in a way, it would certainly become a signature icon for the company. If you park a Vantage on your porch, expect all your people to fall through to admire its beauty and aggression.
