2019 Buick Regal review

2019 Buick Regal

The old Buick always tried to build the class of vehicles for today. However, some limitations forced the company to resort to the renamed units. Well, what we have here is the Regal, which is among the oldest Buick cars that are still active. It’s not Buick’s oldest car. But it is among those who are still alive.

First it was introduced in 1973 to match the competition introduced by Oldsmobile. Buick has really created something really fine. But it wasn’t capable enough to sit on Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The second generation followed after only 5 years. And she had many variations that attracted the personal devotees of luxury cars. After a successful decade came the third generation. And that was indeed a nice car. But it was mainly based on the Chevrolet powertrain.

Well, the fourth generation was heavily based on the Buick Century. And buyers mostly chose the Century because of its low price. It didn’t help Regale maintain its strength in the market. And finally, production was halted in favor of LaCrosse. While it was still active in the Chinese market.

Soon after 2008, Buick teamed up with Opel to rebrand the Insignia and bring it to the US as the Regal. Once all the preparations were made, the shelf was put back on the market. That was the fifth generation. Recently, Insignia jumped into its second generation, forcing Regal to dive into its sixth. The first models were introduced back in 2017 as a 2018 model. Currently, the Regal is available in 5 trim levels with the lowest base price of $25,070. There is even a performance variant.

Hood of 2019 Buick Regal

Under the hood of the Buick Regal is a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine. It’s a cheeky little guy that can really appeal to the sports enthusiast at a very low price. Also, it works well, but not as well as its competitors.

Well, the North American models come with the front-wheel drive configuration. While the all-wheel drive configuration remains optional. The AWD Regal produced 250 horsepower with 295 lb-ft of torque. While the 9-speed automatic transmission is the only transmission available.

The Chinese market gets the same fad, with the front-wheel drive versions as the base material. While the AWD remains the top trim. And the base ingredient produces the same amount of power but 30 lb-ft less torque.

The US model we tested accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Well, that’s what we’ve achieved after a series of tests. Normally it gave us around 5.7 to 5.8 seconds. In addition, the top speed measured in this way was between 129 and 131 miles per hour.

In addition, the processing specifications are pretty good. Thanks to Buick for taking some weight off this car. The Regal has achieved a fine steering ability that would surely help you make some quick moves. And even the braking is absolutely stunning. It could stop within 163-165 feet from 70-0 mph. And 0.87 g slip resistance is even commendable.

Well, Buick says the Regal attracts 40% of a new customer with those specs. And most of its drivers and young men. Yes, that could certainly happen if the young men could find a car with performance at a bargain price, they would jump on it. They would rather spend all their savings on this car.

2019 Buick Regal exterior

The Buick Regal is no longer just a simple sedan. Instead, it’s a Sportback rear end with a subtle aerodynamic application. Previously, the Regal has shrunk to 3,100 pounds from the previous 3,600 pounds. Well, that adds a lot of fuel to the car’s performance. Also, the overall length has increased by 2.5 inches.

Well, the cosmetics are the same as the Opel Insignia. It’s not much different, plus Insignia is just a station wagon. And both cars wear a different badge. Some basic cosmetics include LED headlights and taillights, 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels, sunroof, and the fog lights.

Lexus RC

The Lexus RC is a very close competitor for the Buick Regal. The RC is faster, sharper and more beautiful. While it uses slightly more fuel than the Regal. Otherwise it’s actually a good car to consider.

Well, the Regal is absolutely a nice option for the young drivers. It has performance, technology, sporty qualities and beautiful looks. And even it offers plenty of space for seating and cargo. If you need something aggressive, the shelf may not meet your needs.
