2019 Hyundai Grandeur Review

Overview:

2019 Hyundai Grandeur

Market presence is one of the most important success factors of any brand. Indeed, rebranding is another colossal structure that is immensely important for success. Well, the automotive industry even relies heavily on branding and rebranding concepts. And there are numerous prominent examples from automakers.

Among these is the Hyundai, which has been successful with its grandeur, which it has been producing since 1986. Well, the grandeur has a pretty amazing history. At first it was just a facelifted variant of a Mitsubishi luxury car. And it was launched with the expectation of defeating Daewoo. But alongside the Daewoo, it faced plenty of competition that far exceeded Hyundai’s expectations. While much of the market share at the time was taken away by Toyota, Nissan and Honda.

Well, the second generation was no different. But it ran successfully in Korea and became a legacy version of Hyundai luxury products. While the third generation was developed and produced entirely by Hyundai itself. And it even found its way to the North American market, but under a different title. There it was marketed as the Hyundai XG. Additionally, the fourth generation carried the Azera for some markets including North America. Although it was slightly different than its previous generation.

The fifth and subsequent sixth generations gained so much strength that they began to compete for the midsize luxury sedans from Ford and Chevrolet. In addition, the Grandeur is available in 4 models. While the cheapest among them cost only $29,480. And the best ones were available for $35,000.

The new generation brought some newer details to the car. But most of it is still old. Well, five performance variants are available, and each of them shares some details with the outgoing generation.

The base model available for the Grandeur is equipped with the naturally aspirated 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. Well, this engine has been in service since 2006. While the Grandeur isn’t the first to use this machine. It’s the Theta II engine capable of producing 187 horsepower with 178 lb-ft of torque. While the Grandeur comes with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

The powerhouse starts with the 3.0L V6 Lambda II MPI turbocharged engine. Well, that’s even an old guy spotted in various other Hyundai and Kia cars. And for the grandeur, this machine puts out 247 horsepower with 210 lb-ft of torque. It is even paired with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

With the GDI V6 engine of the same caliber, the powerhouse continues to grow to 262 hp. While the transmission is upgraded to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Well, that’s still not the best available in the series.

The 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine offers 286 horsepower with 250 lb-ft of torque. And this is the most powerful version of the Hyundai Grandeur. Although it’s not that sporty, it can still do a lot of things.

The sixth generation has been stylized to meet the competition with grace and strength. But it’s not much different than Hyundai’s and Kia’s other premium cars. Well, the cosmetics include Hyundai’s favorite tiger nose grille, projector headlights, shark fin antenna, LED fog lights and LED taillights. In addition, the design includes the 19-inch wheels. While the 20-inch wheels are optional.

Overall the design is fine, and it has plenty of grace to roll amid executive-level sedans. But it’s not as exciting as a number of other options on the market.

Inner:

Interior of the 2019 Hyundai Grandeur

The interior design is graceful, but it’s a fairly dated concept. Leather seats with leather trim are common to all models. While the distance is available for 5 including the driver. In addition, there is even enough space for the load in this car. But when it comes to the tech-savvy design, the Grandeur lacks all of that.

Certainly, Hyundai should switch to the recent trends in cockpit and interior design. Because without such details it is difficult to attract the new generation of drivers.

Competitors:

Toyota Camry

Hyundai Grandeur usually faces the Toyota Camry. The Camry’s advanced styling and enhanced driving experience effortlessly transcend grandeur. While Hyundai hasn’t adjusted the Grandeur’s ability to withstand this competition.
